Burien, a 100-year-old community with a rich heritage, has been busy defining and redesigning itself as a vibrant King County city. Burien Town Square is the culmination of more than a decade of downtown planning, land acquisitions and rezoning by the City of Burien, with the goal of revitalizing the downtown core. The King County Library System is one of the largest circulating libraries in the U.S., with more than 17 million items circulated in 2004. Burien Town Square will house a new 40,000 square foot regional KCLS library to replace the current facility at SW 148th Street and 6th Avenue SW.
