When it's finished, what will Burien Town Square include?
This new vibrant downtown center will include:
- a new Burien City Hall
- a new King County Library
- a new one-acre public park centered in the square
- as much as 70,000 square feet of retail spaces at street level
- over 300 for-sale condominium residences above the retailers
- 8 for-sale townhomes and 10 live/work homes

What is your construction timeline?
Construction is currently underway, and we expect the first building to be complete
for move-ins in December 2008. The final buildings will be completed in late 2009.

What will the new park include? Will traffic be slowed to improve pedestrian access?
The new city park is just over one acre, designed to open up to southwesterly views of
Mount Rainier. The park will include a performance lawn with stage, a market promenade,
gardens, seating areas and water features. Traffic will be slowed with a circular drive
around the park, with 12-foot sidewalks and special paving designed to keep speeds low
around pedestrian activity.

Will there be enough parking for retailers and condos?
Our analysis shows that we have more than sufficient parking with over 600 spaces planned.
There will be on-street and public garage parking for retail. Condo buyers will have secure,
reserved garage parking separate from the public parking area.

Will there be any rental apartments built at Burien Town Square?
Based on feedback from community forums, all the homes at Burien Town Square are planned as
for-sale condominiums, townhomes and live/work spaces. There is not currently a plan to develop
rental apartments.
|
Will there be a movie theater?
The developers at Burien Town Square were considering working to add a movie theater to the square,
but decided that having a theater as part of a residential square would not be a good fit for the
homeowners and businesses. The city is still working to entice a movie theater for a downtown
Burien location, but not as part of the Town Square project.
|
Will there be a grocery store?
Most of the retail spaces at Burien Town Square are designed for smaller retailers and
restaurants, but we may be able to accommodate a smaller gourmet or organic grocer.
